Hybrid Heat Pump Will Be Mandatory in The Netherlands From 2026 When Replacing The Central Heating Boiler

Hybrid heat pump will be mandatory in the Netherlands from 2026 when replacing the central heating boiler

From 2026, a hybrid heat pump will become the standard for heating homes. The cabinet will announce this on Tuesday. As of that year, homeowners are therefore obliged to switch to a more sustainable alternative when replacing their central heating boiler.

We believe PVT hybrid solar panel system is taking an important role in the process, considering energy cost is rising greatly after Ukraine War broke out, solar energy has been selling much more this year.

With this decision, the Dutch government wants to ensure that homeowners eventually switch to more sustainable ways of heating their homes, in order to save gas. According to the cabinet, in many cases it will be a hybrid heat pump, which, according to figures from the cabinet, should save on average about 60 percent in gas consumption. Homeowners can also switch to an electric heat pump, which uses no gas at all, or a connection to a heat network.

By naming a specific year for this transition, the government says it wants to 'provide clarity' to suppliers, installers and home and building owners. With the measure, the cabinet also wants to accelerate the transition to green energy. According to Minister De Jonge of Housing, there are 'exceptional options' for homes that are not suitable or for homes that will be connected to an alternative to natural gas in the short term.

According to Minister Jetten for Climate and Energy, new heat pump technicians will be trained in the coming years in collaboration with manufacturers and the installation sector. The production of heat pumps must also be scaled up in due course. The government also offers a subsidy on the purchase of a heat pump to make the switch more flexible. As of this year, the subsidy amounts to an 'on average' 30 percent of the purchase price. Up to and including 2030, the cabinet will allocate 150 million euros annually for this. There is also financing for low and middle incomes, with an interest rate of 0 percent, the state says.
